1. Zamiana czasów.
a) Jeżeli zdanie główne jest w którymś z czasów: Past Simple, Past Continuous lub Past Perfect to w zdaniu podrzędnym zamieniamy następujące czasy:

a) W przypadku pytań ogólnych zdania łączymy słówkiem if lub whether, przy czym inwersja zanika.
b) W przypadku pytań szczegółowych wyraz pytający staje się łącznikiem zdań, przy czym inwersja zanika.
4. Przytaczanie próśb i poleceń.
a) Przytaczając prośbę lub polecenie wyrażamy to przy pomocy bezokolicznika poprzedzonego słówkiem to.
b) Przytaczając czyjś zakaz lub prośbę o nierobienie czegoś, to przed bezokolicznikiem z to stawiamy nośnik zaprzeczenia not.
